Targeting content for specific audiences helps provide insight into where people are in their customer journey driving customer acquisition and retention. Builder for Shopify includes powerful tools to help you not only build a great e-commerce websites, but also understand your visitor's behavior and act on those insights to optimize your content quickly, driving higher conversion.

You can leverage targeting in a variety of ways for your store—check out our tutorial for how to create a product promotion targeted on specific product or collection pages. One powerful tool of targeting with Builder for Shopify is to target specific pieces of content to customers based on attributes such as whether a customer has bought from a certain collection, whether the page is a particular product page, whether the customer has a product with a specific tag in their cart, and so forth. All the options can be found by clicking on the Targeting icon while in an organization that is hooked up to a Shopify store.

👉Tip: Interested in learning how to target based on query parameters? Check out our guide here

To use targeting, click the Targeting icon at the top of your Builder page. In Targeting, click Add a Filter, and choose one of the many properties in the dropdown menu.

👉Tip: take your targeting a step further by scheduling your content and creating A/B tests to measure your page performance

With targeting and A/B testing, you're likely creating multiple variations of your pages. In the content list at builder.io/content, Builder lists your pages by priority and will go through to see which one should be displayed. For example, if you have three product pages and two have a future date and time scheduled, Builder will display the default product page for now. It’s always good to have a default page in case there is a lapse in scheduling.

You can also drag the pages in the list to rearrange the page priorities. Whichever product page you have on top will override the pages below it, unless you add an end date. To make it easier to view certain versions of your pages, you can use the filter at the top and filter by URL path.

👉 Tip: Once you rearrange your pages, publish one of the affected page (one of the product pages versions) for your store to update with these changes.
